The man on the street has said it’s alright,
to feel like you do, to continue uptight.
He knows all your thoughts, cold prejudice,
you’re part of a jigsaw, where nothing quite fits.
You’ve permission to speak so say what you will
We value your comments but only until
You cross the line, go against what we say
‘Cos you know we’re right, ours is the way
So put you head down son, now be on your way.
The aliens have landed and bought a chip shop,
I read it today in some old red top.
Riddled with rage, you continue confused,
But it’s your little empire, you’re standing to lose.
You’ve permission to speak so say what you will
We value your comments but only until
You cross the line, go against what we say
‘Cos you know we’re right, ours is the way
So put you head down son, now be on your way
So who are these others filling your street,
Disturbing your order, undoing what’s neat.
They don’t look like us, they act differently,
But underneath, they’re just you and me.
Move along there’s nothing to see…

The first official outing of the "what would be" Steve Rothery Band. Riccardo Romano was missing with his keyboard wizardry and no singer at all (later Martin Jakubsky of Stillmarillion). Marillion's catalogue was represented by excerpts of instrumental sections where Steve had his solo spot. This is a milestone in the forming of a great band that later became the spokesman of early Marillion era and of course of Steve's solo material. If you want to hear how it all started you have to get this Alessandro Carmassi
